How did Nike came up with their famous slogan: "Just Do It"?

Gary Gilmore committed many robberies and murders and was sentenced to death in 1977. Before the execution he was given the right of a final word and Gilmore said: "Let's Do It". Later this phrase inspired Nike in creation of their slogan: "Just Do It".
